Dear Amrita Ji

Wish you a happy 100th birthday.

I have begun to read you a few years ago and have become your die-hard fan. I too am August born; I am not going to be Amrita in this lifetime. But. I would love to see an Amrita emerging amongst us-your fans. Today, most of your admirers are celebrating your 100th birthday.

In this era, reading you and discussing your outlook towards life and the love-centric relationship has become a trend. The world introduced me to you through your love life not your literary contribution. I wasn’t interested to know if you loved Sahir Ji or Imroz; what I savoured was the magnificence, clarity and piousness you carried in each of your poetic and anecdotic verses. You wrote what you lived.

You scribbled the dilemmas, dual standards, uncertainty of human relationships with remarkable profoundness. Amritaji, I come from an era where reading you or appreciating you was questionable. The moment someone (girl)uttered your name as her fav author, she was judged for her choices. Yeah, women are still judged for their personal liking and disliking. Hypocrisy is disrespected only in Creative world of soulful reading and writing. Women like you are struggling hard to be heard in the right perspective.

You had Imroz.

Men do not wish to be Imroz in this world; they look for temporary arrangements in the name of a soulful connection.

We would love to be Amrita; provided our Imroz loved and respected us for our voices.

Amritaji I, along with a galaxy of admirers, look forward to your quotes and poetry on various social media platforms. We discuss you more than anything else, and for some of us; you are an inspiration.

FOR US YOUR LIFE IS A SYNONYM OF LOVE AND PASSION.

Today I would write a few lines after your famous poetry.

Main Tujhe Phir Milungi,,,,

Love, Shweta.
